This was the first time that I had seen kart racing on an open circuit. These machines are really small but incredibly fast and as such are difficult to photograph. In the shot I was looking for the idea of "man and machine” and the driver sharing the cockpit with the engine fitted the bill exactly. The repeated striking pattern of red and yellow was a bonus.
